1.Overview
This page explains how to ask us about the personal information we hold about you, and the rights you may have. What we collect and why is described in the Privacy Policy.
Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We will handle these requests as described below, subject to the legal exceptions that apply. Some laws give you extra rights, which are described in the sections that follow.
2.How to make a request
The easiest way is to open a ticket through Support while signed in to the website. Being signed in connects the ticket to your Minecraft account, which helps us find your information. You can also email [Support email address — to be provided].
Please tell us:
- your Minecraft username;
- what you are asking for (for example, a copy of your information or deletion); and
- any order IDs that the request relates to.
You do not need to pay a fee, unless a request is clearly unfounded or excessive where the law allows a fee.
3.How we confirm it is you
Because there are no website passwords, we confirm your identity by asking you to sign in to the website with an in-game /link code, which shows you control the Minecraft account. For questions about an order, we may also ask for details from your Stripe receipt. We only ask for what we need to confirm it is you.
A parent, guardian, or someone you have authorised can make a request for you. We may ask for proof that they are allowed to act for you.
4.What deletion means here
- We can delete or anonymise your website account, sessions, support tickets, and other information we no longer need.
- We may have to keep some records, such as orders and payments, for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, or to deal with disputes. We will tell you what we keep and why.
- Deleting your Coin balance means losing those Coins permanently. We will confirm with you before doing this.
- Deleting your information from UniversalMC does not delete your Minecraft or Microsoft account, your Discord account, or the records Stripe keeps as an independent controller. Contact those companies directly for those.
5.If you are in the EU, EEA, or UK
If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to our use of your information, you have the right to:
- access your information and get a copy of it;
- have inaccurate information corrected;
- have your information erased, in certain circumstances;
- restrict how we use your information, in certain circumstances;
- object to uses based on our legitimate interests;
- receive information you gave us in a portable format, where we rely on contract or consent; and
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.
We will respond within one month. If a request is complex, we may extend this by up to two more months and will tell you why. You can also complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office).
6.If you are in California or another US state with a privacy law
If the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) or a similar state law applies to us, you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose, and get a copy;
- correct inaccurate personal information;
- delete personal information, subject to exceptions;
- opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising;
- limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not use sensitive personal information to infer things about you;
- use an authorised agent to make a request; and
- not be treated differently for using these rights.
We will respond within the time the applicable law requires (for California, 45 days, which can be extended in some cases). If we decline your request, you can ask us to reconsider by replying to our response, and where state law provides an appeal process, we will follow it.
7.If you live somewhere else
Many other countries, including Canada, Australia, and Brazil, give people similar rights. Contact us and we will help, following the law that applies to you.
8.Requests from parents and guardians
If you are a parent or guardian and want to see or delete information about your child, contact us through Support or at [Support email address — to be provided] with your child’s Minecraft username. We will ask for reasonable proof that you are the parent or guardian.
